Does Ward Village provide affordable homes? The answer is YES and they started back in 2016! Ke Kilohana is a new development that Howard Hughes is currently building and estimated completion date is 2nd quarter of 2019. It is located at 988 Halekauwila in Ward Village on the corner of Ward Avenue and Halekauwila. It has a total of 424 units consisting of 1, 2 and 3 bedrooms. They offered 375 units for reserved housing with HCDA and those flew off the shelves! At that time there were thousands of potential buyers who stopped into their sales center to learn about their affordable product and ended up having close to 1000 applicants apply (To learn about qualifying for affordable housing click here). They did a lottery for those units and all were sold immediately and ground-breaking soon followed. There were about 50 market units released soon after the reserved housing sales and those price points were significantly higher. They ended up pulling many of those units off the market and decided to release them later. That later date is now and here is the information we have from the developer:
The last 28 homes in Ward Village's Ke Kilohana are being released as part of a Market-Priced Owner-Occupant release. The 8/24/18 issue of the Honolulu Star-Advertiser contains our Owner-Occupant announcement. Prospective Buyers must submit a completed Owner-Occupant Affidavit by the deadline of September 19th 2018 to be entered into the Lottery for this release.

Aug. 24: Owner-Occupant Announcement
Sep. 19: Affidavits Due to Sales Center (1240 Ala Moana Blvd Suite 100)
Sep. 21: Owner-Occupant Lottery starting 9:00 am
Sep. 22: Owner-Occupant Unit Selection starting 9:00 am
Important Items:
(1) A completed & notarized *Owner-Occupant Affidavit.
(2) A pre-qualification letter from one of the project lenders (Click Here for Lender Contact Information).
*The Owner-Occupant Affidavit shall be personally executed by all the prospective owner-occupants of the residential unit and shall not be executed by an attorney-in-fact.
This final release shall include the following unit types:

For those not wanting to wait for the anticipated 'A'ali'i expected to close in 2021-2022, one might consider the remaining inventory at Ke Kilohana, Ae'o or Anaha. - 5% of sales price due at contracting - 5% of sales price & Pre-Qualification Letter due within 30 days from contracting - 10% of sales price due within 90 days of contracting
